Fostering For You
As a freelance WordPress developer, I was tasked with bringing a client’s unique brand for their fostering services in London to life. The client had already hired a graphic designer and had a clear design concept in mind. Working with the designer through Microsoft Teams, I was able to enhance the grid design with responsive and retina capabilities using wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and a sitemap.
The website was built using the latest version of WordPress, version 5, and using the Gutenberg framework. This new framework allowed for a more dynamic writing interface, making it easier for the client to publish posts and pages.
One of the highlights of the project was the creation of an interactive diagram called “How to become a carer.” This was designed to show users step by step, with smooth animations, shapes, and images, how they can become a foster carer. The client was pleased with the final product and it’s now live on their website.
The development process took three months, including extensive testing and bug fixing. This project allowed me to showcase my front-end skills such as JavaScript and jQuery, CSS 3, and HTML 5, as well as back-end skills like optimizing the database with mySQL.
The client was highly satisfied with the final outcome of the website and has since entrusted me with future projects. These projects are still in progress.
